Upon graduation from Kent State University in 1956, with a degree in Graphic Design, Larry went to work for the Akron Beacon Journal doing advertising layout and illustration. After 11 years at the Beacon Journal he took a position with The J.P. Penney Company Co, as District Advertising Manager and Art Director. After only 18 months with the Penney Company, he decided to get out of the "rat race" and be able to work more in the Fine Arts. He returned to Kent State to begin working on a degree in Art Education.
In September of 1968 he took a position as a teacher at St. Joseph's School in Cuyahoga Falls and then in 1969 he moved to Cuyahoga Falls High School as an Art Teacher. He received his BS in Art Education in 1973. While teaching at Cuyahoga Falls he entered Kent State Graduate School and in 1976 received his Master of Fine Arts. While in Grad School he was twice awarded the Blossom Kent Art Scholarship.
In 1980 Larry left Cuyahoga Falls High School to venture into business as a full partner and VP at Team 4 & Company in Cuyahoga Falls; a full design firm. He was in charge of Graphic Design and Interior Design. However, after six years he again decided he wanted to work in the fine arts. In 1986 he took a position as an Art Teacher at Central Hower High School in Akron and remained there until retirement in 1999.
